Cough Cough, Sniffle Sniffle

I’m not sure what it is about being sick, but whenever I have a bad cold I also get *extremely horny*. It seems odd that while my body is fighting off this infection, I’m also completely distracted by sex. Maybe it’s the being in bed or lying down so much of the time? Maybe it’s that my mind is going in twenty different directions at once, and so something more animal takes over? I have no idea its cause, but it’s a pattern I’ve noticed for a long time.

I don’t experience this phenomenon, but I think your explanations all make sense: especially lying around. If you’re in bed and dozing in and out of sleep, you’re probably experiencing at least a few “morning wood” erections, which happen whenever you go to sleep. When you’re sick, I suspect you’re more likely to wake up during these boners and be turned on by your body’s arousal. Also, if you’re taking any kind of over the counter medicine for your cold that could play a role because these drugs almost all cause increased blood pressure. I don’t know if there’s any particular link between being sick and being horny — and Google doesn’t give me any answers, other than confirming that you’re not alone! Tons of people apparently get super horny when they’re sick.

Here’s my Completely Insane and Not Even Close to Scientific Theory To Be Absolutely Ignored: there are parasites that induce behavioral changes in their prey in order to advance their reproduction (by causing mice to be ATTRACTED to the smell of cats, for instance, or causing grasshoppers to throw themselves in water and drown) so perhaps you’re prone to colds that induce you into horniness in the hopes that you’ll make out with someone and spread them along!

It never occurred to me to search and find out if this was a common experience or just my own little world. The fact that “tons of people apparently get super horny when they’re sick” makes me feel a lot better. =) Not that I needed to “feel better” about myself in that way, but it’s good to know.
